How To DIY Your Wedding & Event Florals With Derita!
We know how important making your special day beautiful, seamless and personalized is. The Derita team are experts at guiding you through the process of sourcing your wedding day (or any special day/event) flowers and supplies to help you and your team of helpers to create floral magic for your celebration. If you feel lost on your starting point, or could use a guide on how to most efficiently use our services to get the ball rolling, look no further.
First and foremost, Derita keeps a stocked cooler of cut flowers and greenery for sale. Customers (we are open to the public) are welcome to shop Monday through Friday for any needs! For a wedding or special event with specific needs, a preorder is the way to go. Preorders of flowers and greens ensure that Derita can properly source exactly what you need, and gives room to make adjustments and substitutions if needed.
It is best to preorder 3-4 weeks in advance of your event. With an everchanging market of perishable product impacted by seasonality and demand, it is challenging to determine availability and estimated pricing of any dates further than 4 weeks out. If your wedding/event is further out than this, it is great to scroll through the catalog to familiarize yourself and prepare your list of needed items! Once you are in that 3-4 week out sweet spot, you are ready to begin your order process.
Derita’s online catalog is the place to begin. On our website under the “Shop” tab–Fresh Flowers and Greenery, you can peruse all of our fresh product offerings and prices. This is a listing of our entire possible sourcing list, so not all of the items listed are available to grab in the cooler at any given time, but most likely can be preordered for your specific needs.
Add all desired products into your cart to see how different quantities, varieties, and colors work within your budget. When you finalize your shopping cart you can submit your order through the online system.
The checkout process does not take payment through the online portal and it does not finalize your order. Next, your submission will be sent to a Derita team member. We will review the order and reach out via phone (or email if no answer). At this time, we will let you know if any substitutions are needed. This is necessary if a bloom you selected is out of season or if there is a market shortage.
A 50% deposit is required to finalize preorders. Then we will begin sourcing to get your order to the finish line! On the predetermined pick up day, you can come to the shop anytime between 7:30AM-3:00PM that day to retrieve your order. All flowers will be dry packed in boxes to simplify your transportation process. The flowers are safe to travel dry on the drive from the shop until you arrive at your destination; when you do arrive, make sure to give all of your blooms a fresh cut as soon as possible and let them hydrate in fresh water with flower food/preservative in an air conditioned/cooled space before designing with them.
When considering floral supplies needed for design work, Derita has you covered! When you arrive at the warehouse to retrieve your floral order, you can browse our hardgoods (also available on deritafloralclt.com/shop). Our most commonly needed tools for DIY brides include buckets, flower food, flower frogs, tape, vases, taper candles, foam, clippers/cutters, and ribbon.
